LSE London – A portrait of aspirant homeowners
Since 1997, the average property price in England has risen by 173%, and in London by 253% while the real incomes of 25-34-year olds has increased by just 19%.
Since 2001, there has been a 28% increase in single adults living in multi-adult households.
This report investigates the impact that the affordability crisis is having on young working Londoners. They are saving hard, sharing homes for longer and often living in less than 10m2 of personal space, in order to help them achieve their dream of home ownership.
