Privacy Notice – My Pocket User
In addition to the website's general terms of use and privacy statement the following terms apply to user accounts created via registration.
Registration
- Each registration for a user account is for a single user only;
- You undertake that all information provided by you for the purposes of registering a user account is accurate and complete, you are able to update your information within your account and you are responsible for doing this and undertake to do so;
- You accept sole responsibility for all use of and for keeping secret any account ID and password that may have been given to you or chosen by you for use on this site
Privacy Notice
This privacy notice tells you about the information we collect from you when you sign up via our website as a Pocket Account Holder in order to purchase a Pocket home. In collecting this information, we are acting as a data controller and, by law, we are required to provide you with information about us, about why and how we use your data, and about the rights you have over your data.
Who are we?
We are Pocket Living Limited. Our address is Third Floor, Tower House, 10 Southampton Street, London WC2E 7HA. You can contact us by post at the above address, by email at privacy@pocketliving.com or by telephone on +44 (0) 20 7291 3680.
We are not required to have a data protection officer, so any enquiries about our use of your personal data should be addressed to the contact details above.
What personal data do we collect?
When you sign up to be an account holder online, we ask you for your name, address, contact telephone number, email address and place of work. To match you with a Pocket scheme we will ask for further data to prove your eligibility for a scheme. This will include providing documentary evidence of information such as: your salary; your personal savings; your place of work; and your current address (“Eligibility Information”). You will be asked to submit your financial eligibility information into a third party website. Our third party associate is Censeo, they are a UK registered company and comply with GDPR. Censeo will confirm to us whether or not you meet the financial eligibility criteria and confirm various financial information regarding your salary and deposit.
You will also be asked to complete a questionnaire containing questions relating to sensitive data such as your sexuality, your ethnicity and physical disabilities (“Questionnaire Information”).
Why do we collect this information?
We will use your information to send you emails informing you when a new property that meets the requirements specified in your user account settings has been added to pocketliving.com. We may also send other emails promoting specific affordable homes and/or providers of affordable homes and ‘house-keeping’ matters (i.e. information from Pocket Living Limited in relation to the maintenance of your user account (for example, changes to Terms and Conditions).
Eligibility Information is required as part of our obligations to the Local Authorities and Government. Planning regulations for Pocket properties specify that they can only be sold to someone who meets specific criteria. Pocket Living Limited need the Eligibility Information to ensure compliance with these planning regulations. The Eligibility Information also dictates an applicant’s priority level for the lottery (please see our Sales Allocation Policy).
Questionnaire Information is collected to comply with a requirement of Local Authorities to verify eligibility for affordable homes and for equality and diversity monitoring. Any information we share with a Local Authority will be anonymised.
Newsletters
When creating your user account, you will also be offered the option to receive a general newsletter from Pocket Living Limited, which will contain news directly or indirectly related to affordable home ownership, including, but not restricted to: government scheme news; mortgage news; changes to the Pocket Living Limited website. Registering to receive newsletters from Pocket Living Limited is optional and by doing so you agree to receive news and information from Pocket Living Limited which may include promotion of third party products and/or services which Pocket Living Limited believe may be of interest to you, and/or where the product and/or service is directly or indirectly related to affordable home ownership (e.g. financial services, including mortgages). You may hold an account without receiving the Newsletters, receipt of newsletters is optional.
What do we do with your information?
Your information is stored safely in our database in the UK. Some information is shared as detailed below.
We may, if we are required by law to do so, share your information with Local Authorities, for the purpose of verifying eligibility for affordable homes and equality and diversity monitoring, Independent Mortgage Advisors, for the purpose of ensuring affordability for affordable homes and with our affiliated partners for the purpose of understanding the value of Pocket in London.
Your Eligibility Information is used to confirm eligibility requirements (as detailed in ‘Why do we collect this information’ above). It may also be used in an automated decision process in the form of a lottery. A lottery will take place in the event that the property you are interested in is oversubscribed. The lottery randomly selects buyers from a weighted list of eligible purchase applicants (for details on this process please see our Sales Allocation Policy). The lottery is carried out by The University of Jerusalem (the “University”). The data provided to the University is anonymised. Although the University does not have to comply with GDPR (as it is outside the EU) the European Commission has determined that Israel ensures an adequate level of data protection to safeguard your data.
Censeo will be informed if you are being offered a property (they will be told which property you are being offered).
Your Questionnaire Information may be shared with Local Authorities for the purpose of verifying eligibility for affordable homes and equality and diversity monitoring, and to comply with our obligation to provide sales reports this information will be anonymised.
Independent Mortgage Advisors, for the purpose of ensuring affordability for affordable homes and with our affiliated partners for the purpose of understanding the value of Pocket in London.
Pocket supports a research programme run by the University of Jerusalem and may share your contact details, details of any property you have been matched to, offered or purchased and details of your mortgage. As part of the research project you may be contacted by the University of Jerusalem to take part in a survey, this is entirely optional, you may choose to take part in the survey or not. Should you chose to take part in the survey your answers will be confidential and any reports produced with the data will be anonymous.
How long do we keep your information for?
Your information is kept for as long as you continue to hold an account, although if your account has not been accessed for over 3 years and you are not an owner we reserve the right to remove your account. Please see ‘Privacy Notice – Owner’ for how long your information will be held should you successfully purchase a Pocket home.
Your rights over your information
By law, you can ask us what information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate. You can also ask us to confirm who we have shared your information with and what we have shared.
You can ask for it to be erased and you can ask for us to give you a copy of the information.
If you wish to close your account or wish to contact us relating to any of these matters you can submit a request or contact us by email, post or telephone, please use the contact information provided above.
You can also ask us to stop sending you the newsletter at any time, either by clicking the unsubscribe link at the end of any newsletter, or by emailing, writing or telephoning us using the contact details above.
